Candidates model and facilitate the safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technologies.
Artifact: Cyber Safety Presentation (to read narration, hold mouse in upper left hand corner of each slide)
Reflection:
This presentation was created in ITEC 7410, Instructional Technology Leadership. The Cyber Safety presentation was developed to assist teachers, students, and even parents with important guidelines for copyright, internet safety, and acceptable use policy. The presentation includes facts, website links, and important tips for understanding these concepts clearly. In powerpoint format, there is narration, so teachers could view it in a faculty meeting, but then review it later in small groups or individually.
Mastery of 4.2 standard is demonstrated in this artifact because the presentation deals with key issues for the safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technologies. Our students are using the internet for research, creating projects, and other learning opportunities. It is crucial that we keep them safe by providing them with these guidelines. Prior to this activity, I was very confused with copyright laws. Preparing this presentation helped me to break down copyright into pieces so that I was able to understand it better. If I was going to change anything in this project, next time I would break the three areas covered into three different presentations. I think all of the information is a lot to cover and comprehend in one setting. Faculty development and student learning will be impacted through this presentation because teachers and students will have a better understanding of copyright, internet safety, and acceptable use. The impact of this artifact can be assessed through creation of an online quiz or game for teachers and students to review the facts learned in the presentation.
