Artifact: Action Plan
Reflection:
This artifact was created during summer semester, 2011 for the Data Analysis and School Improvement, ITEC 7305. The project consisted of two parts. Action Plan Part 1 included addressing weaknesses that were found in my school's GAPSS review. The second part, included an action plan outlining the steps to launch a data initiative in the school. This standard was fully demonstrated with this artifact because we were required to collect, analyze and implement strategies to improve teaching and learning.
From this artifact, I learned how to find weaknesses within the data and target a need to improve teaching and learning. My plan encompassed a two year timeline with teachers meeting weekly with their data teams. I think this is a good length of time, but I think it would be better to increase the weekly meetings to twice a week for the first year to make sure the Data Coach and data teams are developing and utilizing the Using Data Process of Collaborative Inquiry effectively. This action plan would definitely impact school improvement by increasing student learning and building team relationships within the faculty. Faculties that can work together in a positive, productive learning environment that recognizes the diversity of others and diversity of their learners will have a positive impact on learning. The impact of this plan can be assessed by obtaining feedback quarterly through surveys from the teachers and evaluating the assessment data gathered to indicate student progress.
