3.5 Basic Troubleshooting
Candidates troubleshoot basic software and hardware problems common in digital learning environments.
Artifact: Jing presentation Profiles in ActivInspire
Reflection:
During the last two years the elementary schools in our school district have transitioned from the Promethean software ActivStudio3 to ActivInspire. Because of this, I have had many questions from my teachers about the software. I offer a ten hour professional learning course in the software, but many teachers forget some of the tools that they don't use everyday. I created this Jing presentation about changing their Profiles in Activinspire. This is a very short overview that covers settings, layout, commands and user-defined buttons in the Editing Profile option within the software.
This artifact shows mastery of the 3.5 standard because it provides teachers with a quick tutorial on how to troubleshoot something within software that they use everyday. I love using Jing for basic troubleshooting presentations because it allows the viewer to see and hear the instructions. I learned that Jing limits the presentations to four minutes, so your presentations can focus on key points rather than getting into too much detail. After listening to the Jing presentation, I think I would re-record it without my husband opening and closing doors in the background. I think this would be a great digital resource for students to use for individual or group projects to demonstrate student learning. Learning could be assessed through student made rubrics. Allowing teachers to watch simple video presentations on basic troubleshooting on their own allows me to focus on more critical learning needs of my teachers.
