Artifact: Content Area Report Language Arts
Reflection:
The content area report brochure was created in ITEC 7400 to provide 3rd grade language arts teachers various tools for integrating technology within their classroom with their students. The technology tools were divided into three categories.
· Productivity tools were available on all computers.
· Research tools included online subscription resources provided by our school district.
· Interactive tools included tools you could use with an interactive whiteboard in their classroom.
All tools were evaluated to determine their effectiveness in supporting language arts standards. The brochure was designed to use as a printed handout or emailed to teachers as an electronic resource.
This content area report brochure demonstrates mastery of the 2.1 standard because it aligns technology integration learning experiences with the 3rd grade language arts content, student technology standards and the GPS standards. By completing this artifact, I was able to discover all of the numerous technology integration resources available for 3rd grade language arts teachers and students in our district. I think to improve the accessibility of this information; I would create and post all of this information on a website that is available to all teachers in our district. The creation of this artifact impacted teachers, as well as students. Many teachers that received this document electronically told me they were able to use it over and over throughout the year. This document also prompted teachers to ask me for training on certain unfamiliar resources. The impact can be assessed by surveying teachers for which tools they found useful. We also have the means to run usage reports on our online subscription services.
