Artifact: Technology and Beyond Blog Reflections
Reflection:
For the first year of our master's program, we created and posted various items to a blog that we setup during our first semester. Some of the items posted included assignments, field experience documentation and various topic reflections. We also commented on classmates' posts. Unfortunately, after the first year, we no longer were required to post to our blog. Looking back over my reflections, I realize how much we learned and shared with each other in that first year. The blog reflection that I have linked to was created at the end of ITEC 7460, Professional Learning and Innovation. The professional learning plan that we created in this course was extremely helpful for my future development of professional learning courses. This reflection included the details of what I learned during this course.
This artifact demonstrates mastery of the 6.2 standard because it shows how I thought and felt about what I was learning, examples of a professional learning plan that I created, and how I planned to utilize what I learned into my professional practice. This was one of my first experiences in an online community and I felt that I really learned a lot of new ideas to implement in the classroom from the other students in my cohort. I prefer talking in person to people, but I learned to express myself honestly in a community that I felt was interested in what I had to say and share. This reflection reminds me of all that I learned about evaluation techniques in developing professional learning. In the future development of professional learning courses, I will be including these types of open-ended questions. If I could change anything, I wish I had continued to reflect on my learning during my graduate course through this blog. My professional learning was impacted from what I learned from the instructor, the development of the professional learning plan and other students in my class. The impact from this particular reflection can be assessed through future evaluations that I will use to determine the effectiveness of a training I offer to teachers.
