Artifact: New Teacher Technology Orientation and Multimedia Reflection paper
Reflection:
Unfortunately, because of budget cuts, there aren't as many instructional technology specialists in our district to meet all the needs of all the teachers.Teachers have many questions at the beginning of the school year and I can't always assist all of them as quickly as I would like. Because of this, I decided to design a website that would allow teachers, whether new or veterans, to have access to some technology resources that will enable them to have an online resource they could access anytime. I designed the website to include directions for attendance procedures, how to create their class website, online subscription resources provided by our district, and how to access technology assistance or training, if needed. The website included handouts, audio and video presentations.
This new teacher technology orientation website demonstrated mastery of the 3.4 standard by providing teachers with multiple learning experiences for all types of learners which included an environment that met most teacher's needs. I learned from this experience that you can't include all of the information. This is a work in progress and I will continue to add additional information as teachers request it and we add more technology resources. An evaluation option was available on the New Teacher Technology Orientation website if teachers chose to participate. This evaluation tool was setup through PollDaddy. Teachers could answer four brief questions based on what they learned and whether they needed more information through the website. Based on the evaluations and feedback that I received from teachers that took advantage of the learning opportunities on this website, faculty development was impacted by being successful in creating their class websites, taking their attendance, and exploring useful online resources for their students.
