Artifact: Partnership Proposal
Reflection:
The Grant and Partnership Proposal artifact was created in the fall, 2010 for my Instructional Technology Leadership class. The purpose was to become familiar with researching, recommending and finding different funding strategies through grant proposals and business partnerships to support the technology plan at our school. This artifact demonstrated mastery of this standard because it shows that I understand the steps involved to access possible funding resources. It is important to be able to choose grants and partnerships that are supportive of the school's technology plan and be able to communicate clearly to obtain those funding resources.
John Wieland Homes was chosen for the partnership because they were already a partner in education with the elementary school. John Wieland will be donating $5,000 for the one year subscription for the whole school of the IXL Online Math program. Students will have access to the program at school and at home with internet access. This program was chosen to increase student performance in Math in all grade levels. The IXL program provides reports to teachers, parents, and students to track student’s progress. Each month the school will provide a report of progress to the John Wieland office in the neighborhood. In addition, the school will provide the Math CRCT results at the end of the year.
The grant chosen was from the Toshiba America Foundation. The focus was for math or science teachers in grades 6th-12th. A local middle school 7th graders in our district wanted to participate with the Army Corp of Engineers to assess the health of the Etowah River watershed and participate in the Etowah Habitat Conservation Plan. This would support the majority of their 7th grade science and math standards. After their assessment, the students would make develop solutions for protecting the water quality and aquatic water species currently living there.
