Artifact: Technology Vision
Reflection:
The technology vision artifact was created during the first semester of my master's program within the course ITEC 7410, Instructional Technology Leadership. The project involved the creation of a vision for technology use in our school and a research-based rationale to support that vision. I chose one of the elementary schools that I support to focus on their vision for technololgy.
This artifact supports mastery of this standard because developing a shared vision and then beginnning the implemention of that vision helped me to contribute to the integration of technology to support teaching and learning with the students in that school. This vision also creates an environment and culture conducive to the realization of this vision for the school.
The creation of this vision helped me to look at the long range goals for the students and teachers at this school. In order to improve the quality of this vision, next time I would want to collaborate with more teachers at the school. Because of time constraints, I only was able to work with one other teacher and one administrator. Also, I think educating teachers on the ISTE standards are important for creating a vision for a school.
The vision had a positive impact on the school. Teachers attended workshops to create standards based student learning units that include technology integration and constructivist teaching methods each semester the first and second years. These workshops were conducted by other teachers in the school. The impact of this was assessed through teacher evaluation by administrators, student test scores, and student and parent surveys.
